The strong demand for the iPad and iPhone 4 continues. This isn’t a mystery to anyone who follows the news, and constantly hear about some of the hottest gadgets in the market.
One big concern over recent months has been Apple’s ability to respond to the strong demand in a timely manner. A few weeks ago we reported about South Korean manufacturer, LG Display Co., which specializes in the production of liquid crystal displays and is one of the main suppliers for Apple’s iPad.
Back then, LG came out and waived the white-flag by announcing that the company simply could not meet the growing demand for iPads. In addition, keep in mind that LG is a major supplier of flat screens for iPhones as well.
Today, we received reports that indicate that Rodman & Renshaw analyst, Ashok Kumar, believes Apple’s iPad and iPhone production rates are beginning to catch-up with the strong demand.
We haven’t seen an official statement from LG yet, but everything seems to indicate the South Korean company has found a way to boost production to help reduce the lead-time on the iPad and iPhone 4. It seems that LG is ramping up production of 9.7-inch display panels, which should result on a better flow for iPad orders that could eventually allow Apple to sell 5 to 6 million iPads in the third quarter.
This recent report also indicates that the lead-time for the new iPhone 4 should be shorter by the end of September. Many are predicting Apple could sell 14 million new iPhones in the third quarter, and another 15 million in the fourth quarter.
With the holiday season not so distant anymore, we expect to see lots of consumers getting ready to buy iPads and iPhone 4 handsets. It looks like Apple and LG may have found a way to create a big pipeline for two of the hottest gadgets in the market. If you’re making plans to buy and iPad or an iPhone 4, or maybe both, the recent news could make it easier for you as you make plans for the second half of the year.
