HTC's first tablet, the 7-inch HTC Flyer, will be stocked at all Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy stores, plus online, when it goes on sale in early May.

As you'd expect, it's now possible to place a pre-order if you want to become one of the first to get your hands on one. If you want one SIM-free, be prepared to pay an eye watering £600 – which is more than Motorola's Honeycomb-based XOOM!

The Android tablet comes with an advanced version of HTC Sense, designed for tablets, and a HTC Scribe digital pen to make it possible to write notes. Users can also make audio recordings that are synced with written notes and annotations – ideal for people taking minutes in meetings.

The HTC Flyer will also launch the new HTC Watch on-demand movie streaming and download service.

It comes with 3G / Wi-Fi, Adobe Flash 10.2 and a 5-megapixel camera.
